Apple Pay Onboarding Instructions
(as if we are giving these instructions to our customers.)

To enable Apple Pay for your organization, Apple requires that you
create and own your Apple Pay merchant credentials. We will set
everything up for you once these items are provided.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

STEP 1 — Create an Apple Developer Account

1. Go to: https://developer.apple.com/account
2. Sign in with any Apple ID.
3. You do not need the paid program. The free developer account is
    enough.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

STEP 2 — Create Your Apple Pay Merchant ID

1. In the left menu, go to Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles.
2. Select Identifiers.
3. Click the + button.
4. Choose Merchant IDs.
5. Click Continue.
6. Enter a Description such as:
    “YourOrgName Apple Pay Merchant”
7. Enter an Identifier in the format:
    merchant.yourorgname.payments
8. Click Continue, then Register.

This creates your official Apple Pay Merchant ID.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

STEP 3 — Create Required Certificates

Apple requires two certificates. After creating them, you will download
each one and provide it to us.

1. Payment Processing Certificate

This certificate allows Apple to encrypt payment tokens for your
merchant account.

Steps: 1. In the Apple Developer portal, open your Merchant ID.
2. Scroll to Certificates → Payment Processing Certificate.
3. Click Create Certificate.
4. Apple will ask you to upload a CSR.
- We will provide this CSR file to you.
5. Upload the CSR and click Continue.
6. Download the resulting certificate file named:
payment_processing.cer

2. Merchant Identity Certificate

This certificate allows your payment server to perform Apple’s merchant
validation handshake.

Steps: 1. In the same Merchant ID page, go to Merchant Identity
Certificate.
2. Click Create Certificate.
3. Apple will again ask for a CSR.
- We will provide the CSR file for this one as well.
4. Upload the CSR and click Continue.
5. Download the resulting certificate file named:
merchant_identity.cer

------------------------------------------------------------------------

STEP 4 — Send Us the Required Files

Please send us:

1. payment_processing.cer
2. merchant_identity.cer

We will install them on our server, configure Apple Pay for your
account, and notify you when your Apple Pay checkout is ready.

Summary of What You Must Provide

- Apple Pay Merchant ID (e.g., merchant.yourorgname.payments)
- Payment Processing Certificate (payment_processing.cer)

That’s all we need — we handle the rest.
